Maria Sisternas Tusell

Maria has considerable experience in urban practice and consultancy, with a strong focus on innovation and applied technologies to City Design and Masterplanning. She is co-founder and CEO of Mediaurban and is committed to urban transformation and social progress. Having served as Projects Director at the Barcelona City Council, she now leads a multidisciplinary team whose aim is to transform the world we live in through real improvements in real cities.

She has received several awards as an independent architect and has worked for local governments and international organisations such as UNDP (United Nations Development Programme), the World Bank Institute, Medcities Network, and Barcelona Metropolitan Area Cooperation Unit. She has served on the Board of the Catalan Architects Association (COAC), the Metropolitan Strategical Plan of Barcelona and the Cultural Foundation of the Caixa d'Arquitectes.

Maria holds an MSc in City Design and Social Sciences from the London School of Economics and is a regular contributor to specialized media. She has been Lecturer at the Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Architecture and Urbanism at La Salle (PAMUS) and is co-director of the new Master in Urban Management at the Barcelona School of Management, Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
